Services

Barr Interventions & Consulting offers a suite of self-pay services to meticulously assist individuals experiencing challenges with addiction. Because addiction is a family disease, this means that services are meant to support the loved ones of the affected individual. With any service provided, the utmost respect and attention to detail is provided.

INTERVENTION

An intervention, by definition, is the act of interfering with the outcome or course especially of a condition or process as to prevent harm or improve functioning. When one is close to a situation of substance or alcohol abuse in which breaking the cycle seems unsurmountable, Barr Interventions & Consulting comes in to guide, coach, and introduce hope, along with new, effective ways of addressing the situation. Barr aims to help facilitate conversations that leave all parties involved in a better place, regardless of whether the individual with substance use disorder ends up engaged treatment.

Oftentimes, Barr is called to assist in times of crisis, when all other avenues have been explored. While Barr is adept at working in high-pressure, high-stakes environments, the reality is that people need not be in crisis to merit an intervention; substance and alcohol use intervention is about raising the bottom and painting a picture of what sobriety can look like before reaching the natural, negative consequences of the disease.

Barr Interventions & Consulting specializes in two types of drug and alcohol intervention styles in Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and beyond, in Texas and across the country:

With invitational interventions, Barr Interventions & Consulting works alongside the affected individual’s loved ones to craft an invitation to meet and have a conversation. Once the meeting is agreed upon, the intervention is facilitated by the professional, which includes sharing letters from family members and loved ones regarding the negative impact of the individual’s drug or substance use. The message conveyed is one of love. While everything is handled just as with a surprise intervention, participation in this style is autonomous.

Invitational Intervention

In this style of intervention, the individual on the receiving end is unaware and walks into a meeting planned by their loved ones. Typically, loved ones present letters stating how the individual’s substance or drug use has impacted their life negatively. Most often, the individual understands the implications of their actions and goes to treatment that same day. Behind the scenes, the interventionist would have paved the way toward treatment admission beforehand.

Surprise Intervention

Sober Transport

Within Texas and beyond, Barr Interventions & Consulting provides sober transport by private vehicle, commercial plane, and private jet—whichever method the client prefers. Whether someone needs transportation to arrive at a treatment center or needs to go somewhere during their time in treatment, such as a court appointment or a wedding ceremony, Barr provides safe, reliable, professional transportation.

Barr Interventions & Consulting meets individuals where they are in their recovery journey to serve as a beacon of positivity that can coach and serve as a companion when it comes to important life skills like conducting job searches, engaging in fitness programs, and traveling while maintaining sobriety. The end goal is to build self-efficacy, which is crucial for long-term sobriety.

Recovery Coaching

Addiction is a family disease; when an individual is using drugs or alcohol, it affects the whole family. The recovery process is the same. Family needs support and guidance just much as the individual using substances.

Even when a family is not yet in crisis and is simply looking for guidance in understanding addiction and recovery, Barr helps as a guiding, encouraging force (in-person, over the phone, and virtually) that helps families set boundaries, understand treatment options, and receive assistance with treatment logistics. Further, Bar is a trusted resource to help answer the many questions that arise during an intervention and the process of obtaining substance use treatment.

FAMILY LIAISON

Pre and post intervention and pre and post treatment, Barr Interventions & Consulting works with individuals with substance use disorder and their families or loved ones to offer education around addiction and/or mental health disorders; share connections to resources and tools for coping; collaborate on treatment provider vetting, intake, and initiation; and consult on discharge plans to set everyone setup up for long-term success. Family sustenance is the goal, and regular meetings take place to that end.
